OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Cortland men's lacrosse team opened up a commanding 9-1 lead at the half and cruised to a 20-6 win at Oswego in SUNYAC action Wednesday night. With the win, the Red Dragons improved to 10-4 overall and 6-0 in the conference and clinched the regular-season league title with one game remaining. The Lakers fell to 9-5 and 4-2.
Sam Rothman (Dix Hills/Half Hollow Hills East) and
Ryan Scanlon (Cornelius, NC/William Amos Hough) led Cortland's offense with four goals with Rothman picking up two assists and Scanlon adding one assist.
Nick Stoecker (East Setauket/Ward Melville) finished with three goals and two assists,
Josh Michel (Manlius/Fayetteville-Manlius) netted two goals and
Caden Yancey (Fayetteville/Fayetteville-Manlius) tallied a goal and two assists.

Ryan Eccles (Syracuse/Corcoran) and
Aidan McHugh (Maine/Maine-Endwell) each scored goals for the Red Dragons.

Joe DeLany (Camillus/West Genesee) and
Caden Morra (Farmingdale/Plainedge) collected one assist apiece.
Travis Wagner (Penfield) started in goal for Cortland, making 11 saves and giving up just three goals in 51:25.
Charlie Falowski (Redding, CT/Joel Barlow) stopped one shot over the final 8:35. McHugh won seven faceoffs, and
Rich Finn (LaGrange/Arlington) was successful on five faceoffs.
Tucker Macknik (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) collected five ground balls, Stoecker,
Travis Moehringer (Stony Brook/Ward Melville) and
Conner Gallagher (Northport) recorded four ground balls and
Alex Thrasher (Vestal) secured three ground balls.
Six different players each scored a goal for the Lakers. Goalie Seamus Hand stopped 14 shots in 51:39, while Tyler Novak played the final 8:21. Logan Prescott won 13-of-26 faceoffs and grabbed eight ground balls. Connor Postel picked up four ground balls, and Rob Nelson and Tyler Stevenson collected three ground balls apiece.
After Oswego took a 1-0 lead 1:42 into the game, the Red Dragons took control by scoring the next 12 goals. Cortland held the Lakers off the scoreboard for a span of 38:13 stretching from the first to third quarters to build a 12-1 lead. The advantage grew to 16-3 after three quarters before the Red Dragons held a 4-3 edge in the fourth quarter for the 20-6 final.
