POTSDAM, N.Y. –
Toni Cashman (East Moriches/Westhampton Beach) tallied six points on five goals and an assist to become the 19th player in program history to reach 200 career points as the Cortland women's lacrosse team defeated Potsdam, 21-6, Wednesday afternoon in SUNYAC action.
Cashman now stands at 204 points on 149 goals and 55 assists in her four seasons. The Red Dragons improved to 6-4 overall and 4-0 in the conference. The Bears dropped to 3-4 and 0-3.
Emma Dempsey (Brewerton/Paul V. Moore) scored a career-best five points on a career-high four goals and an assist for Cortland.
Ashley Melillo (Massapequa) netted three goals,
Amy Hoeffner (Bay Shore) recorded two goals and two assists and
Chelsey Weber (Holtsville/Sachem East) picked up two goals and an assist.

Lauren McCulloch (Loudonville/Shaker),
Morgan Brace (Brewster) and
Lexi Caron (Manlius/Fayetteville-Manlius) each scored a goal.
Rachel Janis (Laurel/Mattituck) tied her career high with six assists, while
Rachel Rempe (Aquebogue/Riverhead),
Gwen Laukaitis (Cortlandt Manor/Walter Panas) and
Brooke Elizalde (Ronkonkoma/Connetquot) collected one assist apiece.
Margaret Morgan (New Fairfield, CT) started in goal for the Red Dragons. She stopped one shot in the first half.
Trinity Parks (Binghamton/Chenango Forks) played the second half, making three saves and grabbing two ground balls. Hoeffner secured a career-high 15 draw controls and caused two turnovers. Caron added three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Lindsey LaDue led Potsdam with three goals. Abby Kraus, Tessa Pierce and Taylor Swamp each netted a goal. Anita Reitano and AnnaBelle Mitchell collected assists.
Goalie Olivia Minarich turned aside five shots in the first half. Jane Olszewski registered one save in the third quarter, and Allison Bruns did not record a save in the fourth quarter. LaDue added seven draws, three ground balls and two caused turnovers. Pierce controlled four draws, scooped up two ground balls and caused two turnovers.
Cortland wasted no time in taking control of the game, amassing a 12-0 lead after the first quarter. The 12 goals in one quarter surpassed the previous high of 11 goals scored at Potsdam and Buffalo St. since the NCAA went to 15-minute quarters from 30-minute halves in 2022. Cashman earned her 200th career point at the eight-minute mark of the opening quarter.
The Red Dragons lead grew to 15-1 at the half and 19-2 after three quarters before the Bears outscored Cortland, 4-2, in the fourth quarter for the 21-6 final.
