CORTLAND, N.Y. - The Cortland women's tennis team evened its conference record at 1-1 and improved to 3-2 overall with a 5-2 win over visiting Fredonia.

Cortland honored its three seniors -
Emma Madigan (Endicott/Union-Endicott),
Hannah Green (Endwell/Maine-Endwell) and
Preston Fuerbacher (Fairport)Â - at the match, and all three earned singles victories. Madigan won 6-0, 6-1 at third singles, Green was a 6-4, 7-5 winner at fourth singles and Fuerbacher posted a 6-2, 6-0 win at fifth singles.

Cortland led 1-0 after earning the doubles team point with a sweep. Madigan and
Christina Massoni (West Babylon)Â won 6-0 at the first flight,
Mary Repass (Honeoye Falls/Honeoye Falls-Lima)Â and
Alexandra Thut (Poughquag/Arlington) won 6-0 at the second flight, and Fuerbacher and
Gabriella Stanley (Buffalo/Niagara-Wheatfield)Â won 6-2 at the third flight.

Madigan and Fuerbacher were the first two winners in singles play to make it 3-0 and Massoni won 6-1, 6-1 at first singles to push the lead to 4-0 and clinch the team victory. Fredonia's Lucy Prevet won 6-2, 6-3 at second singles, Green claimed her win at fourth singles, and the visiting Blue Devils closed the day with a tight win by Sierra Allen at sixth singles, 7-5, 6-4, over Stanley.
