Marra's Hat Trick Leads #13 Cortland to 4-0 Win Over Penn State Behrend

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Graduate student Mateo Marra (Ossining) scored his first hat trick as a Red Dragon, and the nationally-13th ranked Cortland men's soccer team earned a 4-0 victory over Penn State Behrend on Sunday afternoon to finish play at the Turk Emekli Classic. The Red Dragons are now 5-0-0, while the Lions are now 1-3-0.

Marra led Cortland with six shots on goal in the game in scoring his three goals. Junior Scott Schuyler (Cincinnatus) netted his first goal of the season. Four different players registered an assist, including graduate student Matias Valenzuela Matic (Santiago, Chile/Northwood School), senior Matt Shultz (Oneonta), and freshmen Stalyn Acosta (Brentwood) and Flavio Di Santo (Rome, Italy/Ecampus). Junior Jordan Ott (Fort Worth, T.X./Southwest Christian) made three saves in goal for his second shutout of the season.

Anthony Scalise made six saves in goal for the Lions, while Blake Cooper had all three shots on goal.

Cortland had six shot attempts in the opening 15 minutes of the game, but Scalise was able to make three saves to keep the game scoreless. The Red Dragons finally broke through with a goal by Marra in the 42nd minute, sending a shot into the net off of an assist from Acosta. Cortland carried the 1-0 advantage into halftime, as Ott registered three saves in the half.

The Red Dragons added a second goal in the 70th minute, as Schuyler was able to finish after assists by Valenzuela Matic and Di Santo. It was also Di Santo's first point of his collegiate career. Minutes later, Marra found the back of the net for the second time in the game, assisted by Shultz, to make it 3-0 in the 78th minute.
