CORTLAND, N.Y. - The Cortland women's tennis team lost to visiting Hartwick, 7-0, in the Red Dragons' home opener. Cortland is now 1-1 on the season and Hartwick improved to 2-0.

Hartwick earned the doubles team point with wins at all three flights. Alexandra Krasinska and Lily Vanuga won 6-3 at first doubles, Ryann Ashby and Colleen Marsh won 6-3 at second doubles and Samantha Lantzy and Maggie Van Valkenburgh won 6-1 at third doubles.

The more competitive singles matches came at the top three flights. Lantzy won 6-4, 6-4 over
Emma Madigan (Endicott/Union-Endicott) at number three, Vanuga was a 6-4, 6-3 winner over
Mary Repass (Honeoye Falls/Honeoye Falls-Lima) at number two and Krasinska won 6-0, 6-3 versus
Christina Massoni (West Babylon) at number one. Gianna Leggieri won 6-2, 6-0 at fourth singles, Van Valkenburgh won 6-0, 6-0 at fifth singles and Marsh was a 6-1, 6-1 winner on the sixth flight.

Cortland will host St. John Fisher in a non-league match Friday at 4 p.m.
