Peyton Glor won the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke races and swam the opening leg for the winning 400-yard medley relay team
CORTLAND, N.Y. –
Peyton Glor (Tonawanda/Mount Saint Mary Academy),
Julia Bryce (Rochester/School of the Arts),
Leah Bernhardt (Groton) and
Morgan Hannon (Hyde Park/Franklin D. Roosevelt) each won two individual events as Cortland defeated visiting New Paltz, 162-83, in a women's swimming and diving dual meet.
Glor won both the 100-yard backstroke (1:04.96) and 200-yard backstroke (2:19.63) and Bryce was victorious in the 200-yard freestyle (2:07.30) and 100-yard butterfly (1:01.03). Bernhardt captured the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:40.79) and 500-yard freestyle (5:33.77). Hannon took top honors in the 100-yard freestyle (58.49) and the 400-yard IM (4:58.98), the latter as an exhibition entry due to the team score.
Cassidy Torres (Brooklyn/H.S. for Health Professionals) was the 100-yard breaststroke winner (1:13.17) and
Alayna Miller (Hilton) won the 50-yard freestyle (25.35).
Ella Garrow (Peru) won the 200-yard breaststroke (2:40.56). As exhibition entries,
Alyssa Haberlack (Long Beach) posted the top score in 3-meter diving (11-dive score of 401.10 points) and Samantha Mattes (Saint James/Smithtown East) had the top score in 1-meter diving (11-dive score of 373.28 points).
Cortland also opened the meet with a win in the 400-yard medley relay as Glor, Garrow, Hannon and Miller combined for a time of 4:15.07.
Ryann Redmond (Floral Park/Floral Park Memorial) earned two runner-up finishes with times of 2:37.29 in the 200 butterfly and 5:40.44 in the 500 freestyle.
Megan McLaughlin (Avon) was second in both diving events as an exhibition entry, scoring 379.58 points on the 3-meter board and 361.05 points on the 1-meter board.
Other Cortland individual runner-up finishers included Garrow in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.51), Miller in the 100 butterfly (1:02.59),
Clarissa Ball (Selkirk/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) in the 1,000 freestyle (11:54.83),
Kaila O'Hara (East Islip) in the 200 freestyle (2:11.52),
Tristinye Martinez-Reyes (Queens/Benjamin Cardozo) in the 100 backstroke (1:06.13),
Erin Galligan (Rochester/Our Lady of Mercy) in the 50 freestyle (26.34),
Makenna Deitz (Ravena/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) in the 200 breaststroke (2:41.28), and
Caitlin Elsasser (Merrick/Sanford H. Calhoun) as an exhibition entry in the 400 IM (5:09.47).
Cortland will compete next Saturday at the RPI Kumpf Invitational and will send divers to the Hobart/William Smith Diving Invitational on Sunday.
