Arcuri Scores 26, Leads Four Double-Figure Scorers, in 76-66 Win at Oneonta

ONEONTA, N.Y. - Kendall Arcuri (Staten Island/St. Joseph by-the-Sea) scored 26 points to lead four Cortland double-figure scorers as the Red Dragons' men's basketball team defeated host Oneonta, 76-66, in a SUNYAC matchup.
 
Cortland improved to 7-8 overall and 6-2 in the SUNYAC, one half game behind league-leading New Paltz (6-1). Oneonta fell to 8-6 overall and 3-4 in the conference.
 
Arcuri made 10-of-18 shots, including two 3-pointers, and added eight rebounds to his 26-point effort. Isaiah Austin (Albany) went 3-for-6 from the arc and 4-for-4 from the foul line and finished with 17 points. Aaron Coston (Kerhonkson/Rondout Valley) scored 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting and added five rebounds and three assists, and Joel Davis (Watertown) registered a double-double for the third straight game with 12 points and 11 rebounds. He also rang up five blocked shots and four assists.
 
Xavier Hill led Oneonta with 13 points and eight rebounds. Elijah Castillo scored 12 points on 6-of-10 shooting and Delano Knox also tallied 12 points, hitting 5-of-10 shots. Cam LaClair chipped in with eight points and six rebounds and Tyler Harts dished out four assists.
 
Oneonta led for much of the game's first 11 minutes before Cortland came back and established a 38-36 halftime lead. Cortland never trailed in the second half, but also didn't lead by more than eight points until the final minute. Oneonta was down only four, 63-59, with 4:02 left but Cortland scored nine of the next 11 points - five by Arcuri and four by Austin - to take control.
 
Cortland shot 54 percent in the second half and finished an even 50 percent (29-of-58) from the field. Oneonta shot 43 percent in the first half and finished at 39 percent overall.
 
Cortland hosts Fredonia in league action Tuesday at 6 p.m.
