MORRISVILLE, N.Y. - The Cortland men's basketball team maintained a modest lead over the game's final 28 minutes and the Red Dragons defeated host Morrisville, 65-55, in a SUNYAC men's basketball contest.

Cortland evened its record at 8-8 overall and is now 7-2 in SUNYAC play. Morrisville is 8-7 overall and 4-4 in the conference.

Aaron Coston (Kerhonkson/Rondout Valley) finished with 14 points, five rebounds and four assists and
Kendall Arcuri (Staten Island/St. Joseph by-the-Sea) scored 14 points and grabbed six rebounds for the Red Dragons.
Gaige Armbrewster (Oakfield/Oakfield-Alabama) scored 11 points on 5-of-8 shooting and
Joel Davis (Watertown) barely missed his fourth straight double-double, finishing with eight points, 14 rebounds, five assists and five blocked shots.

Isaiah Austin (Albany) added nine points and four boards and
Kendrick Wilson (Wheatley Heights/Moravian Prep (NC)) pulled down seven rebounds.

Kareem Sanders led Morrisville with 23 points, eight rebounds and three steals and also had three assists. Jacob Works totaled 11 points, four rebounds and three assists and CJ McCollum led the Mustangs with four assists.

Cortland trailed 13-8 nine minutes into the game before going a 15-0 run to take a 23-13 lead with 4:37 left in the half. Five different Red Dragons scored during that streak. Cortland led 32-26 at halftime.

Cortland's lead in the second half remained in single digits until the final seconds. Morrisville closed to within 50-48 on Avion Grainger's layup with 9:31 left, but Cortland held the Mustangs scoreless for nearly three minutes after that.
Gerrad Beaubrun (Baldwin) hit a layup with 8:27 left and Davis scored at the 6:47 mark to push the lead to six.

Sanders scored with about six minutes left to cut the margin to four, but Armbrewster hit a layup with 5:12 left and Davis made a layup with 4:20 remaining to give Cortland a 58-50 lead. Morrisville got back to within six on two occasions, the last with 42 seconds left. Coston and Arcuri each hit two free throws to close out the scoring.
Cortland hosts Buffalo State in a SUNYAC matchup Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
