Cortland Women with Rare Tie in Dual Meet at Oswego

Areiannah Martinez-Reyes swam the butterfly leg on the winning 200-yard medley relay team
OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Cortland women's swimming and diving team swam to a 147-147 dual-meet tie at Oswego. The deadlock was the Red Dragons' first tied dual meet since the 2005-06 season.
 
Oswego won the final event, the 200-yard freestyle relay, in 1:44.19, just 0.25 seconds ahead of Cortland, to earn the points needed to force the tie.
 
Emily Lantry (Helena/St. Lawrence), Ella Garrow (Peru), Areiannah Martinez-Reyes (Queens/Benjamin Cardozo) and Alayna Miller (Hilton) won the opening 200-yard medley relay in 1:56.90. Ryann Redmond (Floral Park/Floral Park Memorial) won the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:22.54), Garrow took top honors in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:36.29) and Julia Bryce (Rochester/School of the Arts) was the 100-yard butterfly winner. Samantha Matthes (Saint James/Smithtown East) earned a victory in 3-meter diving (236.10 points).

Peyton Glor (Tonawanda/Mount Saint Mary Academy), 200-yard backstroke (2:19.24)
Cassidy Torres (Brooklyn/High School for Health Professionals & Human Services), 200-yard breaststroke (2:39.23)
Miller, 100-yard butterfly (1:02.65)
Morgan Hannon (Hyde Park/Franklin D. Roosevelt), 400-yard individual medley (4:58.72)
200-yard freestyle relay - Rhianna Lynch (New Hartford), Erin Galligan (Rochester/Our Lady of Mercy), Torres, Miller (1:44.44)
 
Cortland will send competitors to the Ithaca College Dick Comanzo Diving Invitational on Sunday, and the team returns to action next Saturday at the Merchant Marine Academy Memorial Invitational.
