The first period started slowly for both teams, with Cortland having six shots on goal and Morrisville having two shots on goal. Both goaltenders were able to stop each of the shots that they faced as the game remained scoreless into the intermission.

The first five minutes of the second period began with more of the same, with five shots on target for the Red Dragons, while the Mustangs were without a shot on goal.

Aneborn broke the deadlock with 5:47 left in the period, firing a shot off assists from Drew Kopek (Rome/Syracuse Valley Eagles U19) and Kayla Persinger (Youngstown/Newark Ironbound 19UAAA). Two minutes later, Iwinski fired a shot through traffic from the right point into the top left corner of the net. Dinsmore and Josselyn Drayson (Dallas, TX/Dallas Stars Elite) were each awarded assists on the goal. Less than a minute later, the Red Dragons made it 3-0, with Mahoney's eighth goal of the season off of an assist from Raisanen and Aneborn.

The Red Dragons committed a holding penalty with two minutes left in the period, which allowed the Mustangs to score a power-play goal 25 seconds later.

In the third period, Aneborn netted her second goal of the game and eighth goal of the season to complete the scoring. Mahoney and Dinsmore were credited with the assists on the goal.
