ONEONTA, NY – The Cortland women's soccer team closed out the regular season with a 1-0 road victory at Oneonta on Tuesday afternoon in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action. Cortland improved to 12-2-4 (8-0-1 SUNYAC) ahead of the conference tournament, while Oneonta finishes the season with a 4-8-4 record (2-4-3 SUNYAC).

Tyla Vuotto (Lynbrook) scored the game-winning goal for Cortland, and had a team-high four shot attempts. Katie Diem (Fairport) provided an assist, her second assist of the year.

Olivia Rouse (Springfield, VA/West Springfield) stopped three shots for the shutout, as Cortland extended its school record with a 13th straight clean sheet. Cortland will enter the conference tournament having played 1,194:11 of game action without conceding a goal.

Bryanna Meehan stopped nine shots, while Karsyn Kondracki, Tara Nicholson, and Emma Parente each registered one shot on target for Oneonta.

Cortland had a 7-0 advantage in shot on target in the first half, and the Cortland back line of Diem, Avery Rich (Ilion/Central Valley Academy), Maia Allard (Castleton/Columbia), and Nyah Sinkler (Farmingville/Sachem East) did not allow Oneonta to record a shot attempt in the half.

Cortland had its best opportunity to score in the first half in the 27th minute. Piper Klammer (Mahopac) sprinted down the left side towards the end line, before sending a pass back to the middle of the 18-yard area. Vuotto was first to connect on a shot, but an Oneonta defender was able to block the shot in front of goal.

Oneonta was awarded a free kick in a dangerous area following a foul by Cortland in the 41st minute, but Vuotto sprinted out from the wall to block a potential cross into the box, to keep the game scoreless into halftime.

Cortland struck for the opening goal in the 52nd minute off of a set piece. After a foul by an Oneonta defender gave Cortland a free kick to the left side just outside the 18-yard area, Diem sent a curling pass towards the back post, where Vuotto flicked a shot with her foot to redirect the ball into the right corner of the net.

Oneonta registered its first shot attempt of the contest in the 78th minute, as a shot from the left side by Kondracki forced a diving save from Rouse to maintain the Cortland lead.

Oneonta nearly equalized in the 87th minute, but a shot from distance by Brenna Mast struck off the crossbar and a follow-up attempt went over the top of the goal. Just a minute later, Parente's shot from the left side required a diving save from Rouse to secure the victory for Cortland.
