PITTSFORD, N.Y. - Cortland fell behind 16-0 in the game's first five minutes but dominated play after that as the Red Dragons defeated host St. John Fisher, 99-74, in a non-league men's basketball matchup.

Joel Davis (Watertown) led a balanced attack for Cortland (4-1) with 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting. He added five rebounds, four steals and two blocks.
Isaiah Austin (Albany) made 5-of-9 field goals and 5-of-7 free throws and shared the team lead with 16 points.

Kendrick Wilson (Wheatley Heights/Moravian Prep (NC)) connected on 3-of-4 3-pointers and all four of his free throws and finished with 15 points and three assists.
Aaron Coston (Kerhonkson/Rondout Valley) recorded 14 points, including 6-of-7 free-throw shooting, along with six rebounds, four assists and two blocks.

Kendall Arcuri (Staten Island/St. Joseph by-the-Sea) totaled nine points, seven rebounds, five assists and six steals.
Xavier Leveille (Blauvelt/Tappan Zee) scored eight points on 3-of-4 shooting, including two 3-pointers, and
Chris McDonald (Orchard Park) shared the team lead with seven rebounds.

St. John Fisher (3-5) was led by Alex Hayes' 20 points and Maxwell Schneider's 16 points. They each made 6-of-9 shots from the floor, with Hayes connecting on 4-of-5 treys. Schneider added three assists and Louis Fay grabbed five rebounds.

The host Cardinals came out hot, hitting six of their first nine shots to build the early 16-point lead. Hayes made three 3-pointers and scored 11 points during that run. Cortland slowly clawed back and eventually took a brief lead at 37-35 in the final minute before going into halftime tied at 37-37.

Cortland outscored Fisher 62-37 in the second half. The Red Dragons shot 66 percent (21-of-32) from the floor and 14-of-16 from the foul line in the half and committed just four turnovers, while Fisher had 10 turnovers during the half. Cortland built a 10-point lead in the first six minutes of the period, and the margin grew to 20 points with 11:18 remaining and 31 with 3:20 left before ending at 25 points.

For the game, Cortland shot 52 percent overall, 40 percent (10-of-25) from the arc and 86 percent (23-of-27) from the foul line. Fisher ended at 46 percent overall and 56 percent (10-of-18) from deep, but only 12-of-20 from the foul line. The Cardinals ended with 19 turnovers, which led to 28 Red Dragon points, while Cortland finished with 10 turnovers.

Cortland opens SUNYAC play with home games versus Oswego on Dec. 5 and Canton on Dec. 6.
