Cortland Hosts Ithaca in Men's and Women's Dual Meets

CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Cortland men's and women's swimming and diving teams hosted Ithaca College in dual meets at Holsten Pool on Saturday - the Red Dragon men fell to the Bombers, 173-126, and the Cortland women dropped a 221-78 decision.
 
Kellen Dickman (Montgomery/Valley Central) won two individual events and was part of a winning relay for the Cortland men. He won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:00.95 and the 100-yard butterfly in 53.06 seconds. Dariusz Sargent (Holland Patent) won the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:18.36 and the combination of Eliseo Fernandez (Poughkeepsie/Roy C. Ketcham), Sargent, Dickman and Jack Clark (Rochester/Aquinas Institute) captured the 400-yard medley relay in 3:37.38.
 
Kevin Kohlhoff (West Islip) was the 1-meter diving winner with a score of 276.00 points and finished second on the 3-meter board with 268.10 points.
 
Sargent placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.64), Fernandez was second in the 200-yard backstroke (2:03.60) and Clark was the 50-yard freestyle runner-up (22.31). James DuTremble (Pleasantville/Briarcliff) and Colin Veit (Port Jefferson/Earl L. Vandermeulen) each registered two runner-up finishes. DuTremble was second in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:25.35) and 500-yard freestyle (5:08.44), while Veit was second in the 100-yard freestyle (50.17) and 100-yard butterfly (54.39). Also for the Red Dragons, Ayden Baxter (Marlboro) was second in the 200-yard IM (2:04.18), and the quartet of Dickman, Veit, Peter Brelesky (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury) and Dylan Monaco (Lynbrook) finished second in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:29.38).
 
On the women's side, Ella Garrow (Peru) won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:10.31 and finished second in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:33.04.
 
Four Red Dragons posted second-place finishes. Ryann Redmond (Floral Park/Floral Park Memorial) was second in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:39.93) and Cassidy Torres (Brooklyn/High School for Health Professionals & Human Services) finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:11.00). Morgan Hannon (Hyde Park/Franklin D. Roosevelt) placed second in the 200-yard butterfly (2:19.78), and Julia Bryce (Rochester/School of the Arts) touched the wall second in the 200-yard IM (2:21.81).
 
Cortland returns to action Nov. 21-23 at The College of New Jersey Invitational.
