BUFFALO, N.Y. – Three Cortland athletes won individual titles to help the Red Dragons maintain their lead in the team standings during the second of competition at the 2025 State University of New York Athletic Conference-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (SUNYAC-AMCC) Women's Swimming and Diving Championship.
The championship, held at the Burt Flickinger Center on the campus of Erie Community College, is the first-ever combined SUNYAC and AMCC Championship. Ten teams are competing - six from the SUNYAC (Cortland, Fredonia, Oneonta, Oswego, New Paltz and Potsdam) and four from the AMCC (Alfred State, Pitt Bradford, Penn St. Altoona and Penn St. Behrend). Competition will conclude on Saturday.
Cortland currently leads the team scoring with 678 points and Penn St. Behrend is second with 470. Oswego (373), Alfred St. (371) and Oneonta (227) round out the top five.
Leah Bernhardt (Groton), coming off a win Thursday in the 500-yard freestyle, captured the 200-yard freestyle on Friday in 1:54.88.
Ella Garrow (Peru) won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:07.29 and
Alyssa Haberlack (Long Beach) was the 1-meter diving champion with a score of 375.75 points.
Areiannah Martinez-Reyes (Queens/Benjamin Cardozo) posted a second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly in 58.57 seconds.
Tristinye Martinez-Reyes (Queens/Benjamin Cardozo) placed third in the 400-yard IM (4:49.92),
Cassidy Torres (Brooklyn/High School for Health Professionals & Human Services) was third in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.73),
Megan McLaughlin (Avon) finished third in 1-meter diving (359.35 points, 365.65 prelims), and the 400-yard medley relay team of
Emily Lantry (Helena/St. Lawrence), Garrow,
Julia Bryce (Rochester/School of the Arts) and Bernhardt finished third in 4:01.30.
Bryce placed fourth in the 100 butterfly (58.68), (Areiannah) Martinez-Reyes was fourth in the 100 backstroke (1:00.62) and
Samantha Matthes (Saint James/Smithtown East) finished fourth in 1-meter diving (347.85 points, 355.30 prelims). Lantry finished fifth in the 100 backstroke (1:01.61).
Other Red Dragons who advanced to Friday's finals included:
Peyton Glor (Tonawanda/Mount Saint Mary Academy) in the 400 IM (7th place, 5:01.21, 5:00.32 prelims);
Kaila O'Hara (East Islip) in the 200 freestyle (7th place, 2:02.78, 2:02.35 prelims);
Makenna Deitz (Ravena/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) in the 100 breaststroke (7th place, 1:12.62, 1:11.65 prelims); (Tristinye) Martinez-Reyes in the 100 backstroke (7th place, 1:03.84, 1:03.08 prelims);
Caitlin Elsasser (Merrick/Sanford H. Calhoun) in the 400 IM (8th place, 5:09.85, 5:01.83 prelims); and
Ryann Redmond (Floral Park/Floral Park Memorial) in the 200 freestyle (8th place, 2:03.95, 2:02.92 prelims).

Alayna Miller (Hilton) in 10th place in the 100 butterfly (1:02.67),
Erin Galligan (Rochester/Our Lady of Mercy) in 10th place in the 100 backstroke (1:04.88),
Rhianna Lynch (New Hartford) in 11th place in the 100 backstroke (1:05.14),
Sophie Amering (Hilton) in 12th place in the 200 freestyle (2:04.24), Elsasser in 12th place in the 100 butterfly (1:03.49, 1:03.43 prelims), and Deitz in 15th place in the 400 IM (5:19.23).
Unlike past years in the SUNYAC Championships, teams are allowed this year to enter "B" relay teams that can score points, but not finish ahead of any other school's "A" relays. Cortland's 400-yard medley relay "B" team of (Tristinye) Martinez-Reyes, Torres, Miller and Lynch finished 10th officially in 4:11.74, which was the top "B" time and the fourth-best overall.
