CORTLAND, N.Y. - The Cortland women's tennis team opened State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play with a 7-0 home loss to New Paltz, the three-time defending league champion.

Cortland (2-3, 0-1 SUNYAC) will host Plattsburgh Saturday at 11 a.m.

New Paltz (2-0, 2-0 SUNYAC) won the team doubles point with victories on all three doubles flights. The Hawks then swept singles play, losing no more than two games in any set. New Paltz players winning in both singles and doubles were Justine Stanejko (first singles, first doubles), Sam Ostrander (second singles, first doubles) and Patrycja Filonik (fourth singles, second doubles).
