Red Dragons Drop 6-1 Non-League Decision at Nazareth

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Cortland women's tennis team lost a 6-1 non-league decision to Nazareth University indoors at Nazareth's Golisano Training Center.

Nazareth (2-2) opened by earning the team doubles point with victories on two of the three flights. Kenna Ellis and Catherine Zak won 6-0 at first doubles and Anna Spencer and Victoria Cioni won 6-3 at second doubles. Cortland won the third doubles match as Anneli Adams (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) and Emma Morley (Buchanan/Hendrick Hudson) posted a 6-2 victory.

Cortland earned a point at first singles when Lisa Schulz (Mönchengladbach, Germany) beat Zak, 6-4, 6-4. Morley had a tough battle with Paige Masrouri at fifth singles as she won the opening set, 7-5, but lost the second set, 6-0. A super tiebreaker to 10 points was played in place of a third set and Masrouri won that, 10-4, to claim the victory.

Nazareth's other singles winner were Ellis at number two, Spencer at number three, Cioni at number four and Isabella Iannitti at number six.

Cortland travels to Alfred University for a non-league contest Wednesday at 3 p.m.
