CORTLAND, N.Y. - Cortland won all three doubles matches and five of six singles flights to earn a 6-1 victory over visiting Houghton in non-conference women's tennis action.

The Red Dragons improved to 5-4 with the win while the Highlanders dropped to 3-5.

Cortland earned the team doubles point with a sweep of the three flights.
Lisa Schulz (Mönchengladbach, Germany) and
Christina Massoni (West Babylon) won 6-2 at first doubles,
Gabriella Stanley (Niagara Falls/Niagara Wheatfield) and
Alexandra Thut (Poughquag/Arlington) were 6-1 winners at second doubles, and
Anneli Adams (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) and
Emma Morley (Buchanan/Hendrick Hudson) posted a 6-2 win at third doubles.

Singles play started with Stanley winning 6-1, 6-0 at number three, followed by
Olivia Kirch (Dexter/General Brown) winning 6-3, 6-2 at number six. Schulz providing the clinching point with a 6-2, 6-4 win at first singles.

Houghton's Victoria Martinez earned a point for the guests with a 6-2, 6-2 win at fourth singles. The other two singles matches each went to a 10-point super tiebreaker instead of a third set since the team outcome was already decided. Massoni won at second singles, 6-2, 3-6, 10-8, and Adams won at fifth singles, 6-1, 3-6, 10-8.

Cortland's remaining two regular-season matches are on the road - this Wednesday at Oswego at 3 p.m. and next Wednesday, Oct. 9, at Oneonta at 3 p.m. The four-team SUNYAC tournament is scheduled for Oct. 17-18 in Binghamton.
