#23 Red Dragons Win at Potsdam, 67-37

POTSDAM, N.Y. - The nationally ranked Cortland women's basketball team posted its 10th straight victory with a 67-37 SUNYAC victory at Potsdam.
 
The Red Dragons (12-2, 7-0 SUNYAC), ranked 23rd by D3hoops.com and 25th by the WBCA, were playing their first true road game of the season. Cortland's first 13 games this season included nine home contests and four games on neutral courts. Cortland will play at Plattsburgh Saturday at 2 p.m.
 
Joleen Lusk (Cherry Valley/Cherry Valley-Springfield) led Cortland with 13 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks. Brooke Tillotson made all six of her field-goal attempts and finished with 12 points, and Jackie Funk (Penfield) hit 3-of-6 3-pointers and scored 11 points.
 
Adriana Fontana (Endicott/Union-Endicott) made a pair of 3-pointers and ended with eight points. Bella Zingoni (Kings Park/Long Island Lutheran) added seven points, Sophie Bissaillon (East Greenbush/Columbia) registered eight rebounds, three assists and six points, and Mariah Huss (Buffalo/Sacred Heart Academy) pulled down eight rebounds.
 
Lucie Scarpine scored 13 points and DaeLynn Alcock tallied 11 points for Potsdam (2-11, 1-5 SUNYAC). Kierra Baxter led the Bears with five rebounds.
 
Cortland led 15-9 after one quarter and went on a 15-3 run to take a 30-12 lead with three minutes left in the second quarter. The run started with a Funk 3-pointer and also included two Zingoni free throws, a layup and two free throws by Bissaillon, a Fontana 3-pointer and a Lusk 3-point play.
 
Cortland led 35-20 at halftime and scored the first five points to push the margin to 20 early in the third. The Red Dragons led 53-26 entering the fourth quarter and by 30 or more points for a majority of the final period.
 
Cortland finished the game shooting 45 percent overall and 41 percent (7-of-17) from 3-point range. Potsdam was limited to 26 percent from the floor overall and 20 percent (2-of-10) from deep.
