Red Dragons Post Convincing 80-54 Victory at Buffalo State

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Aaron Coston (Kerhonkson/Rondout Valley) and Kendall Arcuri (Staten Island/St. Joseph by-the-Sea) combined for 36 points to lead the Cortland men's basketball team to an 80-54 SUNYAC victory at Buffalo State.
 
Cortland improved to 13-4 overall and 9-1 in the conference. The Red Dragons return to action Friday at league-leading Oneonta (10-1 SUNYAC).
 
Coston hit 7-of-10 shots, including 4-of-6 from the 3-point arc, and finished with 20 points, four rebounds and three assists. Arcuri was 6-of-10 from the floor, 2-of-5 from deep, and ended with 16 points and team highs of eight rebounds and four assists.
 
Xavier Leveille (Blauvelt/Tappan Zee) went 3-for-3 from the field, all from 3-point range, and ended with 11 points and five rebounds. Isaiah Austin (Albany) chipped in with eight points, Nolan Raymond (Queens Village/Vermont Academy) had seven points and three assists, Gaige Armbrewster (Oakfield/Oakfield-Alabama) made all three of his shots and finished with six points and six rebounds, and Chris McDonald (Orchard Park) pulled down five rebounds.
 
Zee Johnson was the lone double-figure scorer for Buffalo State (6-11, 2-8 SUNYAC) with 10 points. Jacob Opare scored eight points and dished out four assists, and Chisom Ani led the Bengals with nine rebounds.
 
Buffalo State led 16-11 midway through the first half and 21-17 with 7:30 left in the period. Cortland finished the half on a 15-2 streak, with the first 12 points coming via 3-pointers by Raymond, Coston, Arcuri and Coston again. Cortland led 32-23 at halftime and by double figures the entire second half. The lead grew to 20 points five minutes into the final stanza and was at 17 after that.
 
Cortland made 11-of-24 3-pointers (46 percent) and ended at 53 percent from the field overall. Buffalo State shot 38 percent overall but just 23 percent (6-of-26) from deep.
