CORTLAND, N.Y. - Cortland outscored visiting New Paltz 28-9 in the first 11 minutes of the game and opened the second half with a 23-5 run over the first six minutes as the Red Dragons defeated the Hawks, 78-48, in SUNYAC men's basketball action.

Isaiah Austin (Albany) made four 3-pointers and led Cortland (8-3, 4-0 SUNYAC) with 14 points.
Kendall Arcuri (Staten Island/St. Joseph by-the-Sea) finished with 12 points, including 3-of-4 shooting from the 3-point arc, and
Nolan Raymond (Queens Village/Vermont Academy (VT)) scored 10 points and grabbed six rebounds.

Gaige Armbrewster (Oakfield/Oakfield-Alabama),
Xavier Leveille (Blauvelt/Tappan Zee) and
Chris McDonald (Orchard Park) each scored nine points. All nine of Leveille's points came in the first half.
Aaron Coston (Kerhonkson/Rondout Valley) led the Red Dragons with four assists, followed by Armbrewster, Arcuri and Raymond with three apiece. Arcuri also had three steals.
Joel Davis (Watertown) hauled in nine rebounds and Coston posted seven rebounds.

LaMar Matthews led New Paltz (2-8, 0-3 SUNYAC) with 23 points and 11 rebounds. The Hawks were held to 26 percent shooting overall, including just 18 percent (5-of-28) in the first half, and they finished the game just 2-of-23 (nine percent) from 3-point range. Cortland shot 43 percent overall and 12-of-33 (36 percent) from the arc.

Cortland led 32-12 with 5:23 left in the first half, but the Hawks held the Red Dragons scoreless the rest of the period and got to within 14 at 32-18 by the break. Cortland, however, hit eight of its first nine shots, including all seven of its 3-point attempts, in the first six minutes of the second half. Austin made three treys, Arcuri connected on two, and Armbrewster and McDonald each made one to help Cortland take a 55-23 lead with 14:17 left. The lead remained at least 30 points for most of the game after that.
