FREDONIA, N.Y. - Four Cortland players scored in double figures as the Red Dragons defeated host Fredonia, 66-48, in a SUNYAC women's basketball contest.

The game was a makeup from a January postponement. Cortland improved to 21-3 overall and 16-1 in the SUNYAC, moving a half game ahead of New Paltz (15-1) in the league standings. Cortland closes the regular season Saturday afternoon at Morrisville, while New Paltz has road games remaining at Plattsburgh Friday and Potsdam Saturday.

Brooke Tillotson (Marathon) led Cortland with 16 points and three steals. She was 5-of-7 from the field and 5-of-8 from the foul line.
Joleen Lusk (Cherry Valley/Cherry Valley-Springfield) hit 7-of-13 shots and ended with 14 points, eight rebounds and three blocks.
Sam Dembinsky (Wallkill) finished 5-of-7 from the floor and had 12 points and six rebounds, and
Jackie Funk (Penfield) made all six of her free throws and totaled 11 points, six rebounds and three assists.

Fredonia (13-10, 8-8 SUNYAC) received 16 points and three steals from Payton Gilbert. She shot 8-of-13 from the field. Ava Brazier hit all four of her shots and scored nine points, while Jakeira Stackhouse finished with seven points and nine rebounds and Ashley Kalvitis distributed three assists.

Cortland struggled with its shooting touch in the first quarter, hitting just 2-of-10 shots and trailing 9-7 after the period. The Red Dragons, however, shot 58 percent in the second quarter and 50 percent (10-of-20) after halftime.

Cortland used an 8-0 run in the last three minutes of the second period to take a 30-18 halftime lead. Tillotson was 5-for-5 from the field and scored 12 of her 16 points in the first half, including four baskets and nine points in the second quarter.

Fredonia got within six at 37-31 on a Gilbert bucket with three and a half minutes left in the third quarter, but Cortland's 9-2 run, including baskets by Dembinsky and
Mariah Huss (Buffalo/Sacred Heart Academy), a
Sophie Bissaillon (East Greenbush/Columbia) 3-pointer, and two Tillotson free throws, made it 46-33 entering the fourth. Cortland led by double figures the rest of the way.
