BUFFALO, N.Y. –
Colin Veit (Port Jefferson/Earl L. Vandermeulen) set a school record for the second straight day with his victory in the 100-yard butterfly to highlight the Cortland's accomplishments during Friday's action at the 2026 State University of New York Athletic Conference Men's Swimming and Diving Championship. The championship, which runs through Saturday, is being held at the Burt Flickinger Center on the campus of Erie Community College.
Cortland remains in second place out of 11 schools in the team standings with 493 points. Penn St. Behrend is the team leader with 591 points, followed by Cortland, Oswego (418), Oneonta (286) and Penn St. Altoona (284) in the top five.
Veit won the 100-yard butterfly in 49.97 seconds, breaking the previous school record of 50.00 seconds set by current teammate
Kellen Dickman (Montgomery/Valley Central) in 2024. Dickman finished second in 50.10 seconds.
James DuTremble (Pleasantville/Briarcliff) finished second in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:43.16 and
Kevin Kohlhoff (West Islip) finished second in 1-meter diving with a score of 503.15 points (515.90 points after prelims). Three Red Dragons earned third-place finishes -
Ayden Baxter (Marlboro) in the 400-yard IM (4:14.89), Dickman in the 100-yard breaststroke (57.16), and
Calvin Eggleston (Antwerp/Indian River) in 1-meter diving (421.90 points; 436.36 points after prelims).
The top three finishers in each event earn All-SUNYAC honors. Winners are first team, runners-up are second team and third-place finishers are third team.
The 400-yard medley relay team of Baxter,
Dariusz Sargent (Holland Patent), Dickman and
Jack Clark (Rochester/Aquinas Institute) finished fourth in 3:33.46. Sargent was sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke (59.72) and
Kensington Wilck (Newark) finished sixth in 1-meter diving (313.80 points; 314.90 points after prelims).
Dylan Monaco (Lynbrook) placed seventh in the 100-yard butterfly (52.36, 52.18 prelims) and
Conner Utter (Manassas, VA/Patriot) finished eighth in the 400-yard IM (4:26.78, 4:25.82 prelims).
Lukas Struble (Middletown/Minisink Valley) won the "B" final in the 100-yard butterfly in 52.00 seconds to finish ninth overall.
Cortland picked up eight other scoring performances with "B" final efforts.
Zack Kreiley (Dansville) was 10th in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.39), Clark finished 10th in the 100-yard backstroke (55.52) and
Jacob Cerrato (Beekman/Arlington) was 10th in the 200-yard freestyle (1:47.72).
Liam Byrons (Skaneateles) was 11th in the 200-yard freestyle (1:48.15) and
Michael Tomasino (Lake Grove/Sachem North) finished 11th in the 400-yard IM (4:30.20). In addition,
Jai Sindhi (Buffalo/St. Anthony's) posted a 13th-place finish in the 400-yard IM (4:30.98, 4:29.03 prelims) and a 15th-place effort in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.30), and
Lucas Gannon (Schenectady/Mohonasen) was 16th in the 200-yard freestyle (1:51.30).
Teams are allowed to enter "B" relay teams that can score points, but can't finish ahead of any other school's "A" relays. Cortland's scoring "B" relay was the 400-yard medley relay team of Utter, Kreiley, Struble and DuTremble, which officially finished 11th in 3:39.92. They were the third-best "B" relay and would have finished ninth overall.
