La PLUME, PA. - Cortland opened action at the Keystone College Spirit of Service Volleyball Classic with a 25-15, 25-15, 25-22 victory over Elmira College.
The Red Dragons (2-2) will play two matches Saturday, facing Mount Saint Vincent at 4 p.m. and the host Giants at 6 p.m.

Erica Arroyo (Nesconset/Smithtown West) led Cortland with eight kills and she finished with a .421 attack percentage.
Anna Lynch (Rochester/Our Lady of Mercy) totaled five kills with no errors in six attempts for an .833 attack percentage, and
Sanaiya Whitted (Poughkeepsie/Franklin D. Roosevelt) put down five kills.

Kayla Wasserman (Minisink/Minisink Valley) led the Red Dragons with 10 assists.
Bianca Sapano (Floral Park/Kellenberg Memorial) had two aces and 12 digs, and Lynch,
Annika Fedullo (Amsterdam) and
Kira Pirrera (Hauppauge/Smithtown West) shared the team lead with two blocks apiece.

Cortland finished the match with a .312 team attack percentage (32 kills, nine errors in 80 attempts).

Elmira (0-5) was led by Averleigh McFarlan with eight kills. Morgan Sica and Ellora Bynoe had six kills each, and Zoie Karcz had a team-high 19 assists.

Cortland did not trail in each of the first two sets. The third set, however, featured 12 ties and three lead changes. Cortland took its first lead of the set at 13-12, and the set remained tight throughout. With the score tied at 22-22, the Red Dragons tallied the final three points to end the match on kills by
Abigail McGaughey (Palmdale, CA/Desert Christian),
Reese Chudoba (Hamburg) and Arroyo.
