CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Brockport men's hockey team opened up a 3-0 lead after the first period and went on to a 5-1 victory at Cortland Saturday night in SUNYAC action at Alumni Arena.

Junior Stefano Alonzi (King City, ON/Burlington Cougars) scored his second goal of the season for the Red Dragons (9-14, 3-11). Freshmen Oliver Lester (Calgary, AB/Prince George Spruce Kings) and Shane Beaulieu (Brooklin, ON/Powassan VooDoos) each collected an assist. Junior goalie Nick Modica (Suffern/New Jersey Hitmen) turned aside 30 shots.

Freshman Jordan Renaud (Russel, ON/Amherst Ramblers) led the Golden Eagles (15-7-2, 7-6-2) with two goals and one assist. Sophomores Danny Rock (Souderton, PA/PAL Jr. Islanders) and Ethan Solat (Centennial, CO/Syracuse Stars) recorded one goal and one assist each, sophomore Tyler Williams (Rome/Philadelphia Jr. Flyers) netted a goal and five others picked up one assist apiece. Senior goalie Jake Moore (Arcade/Springfield Pics) made 21 saves.

Solat opened the scoring at 6:55 of the first period with a wrist shot after being led with a long pass. Renaud then notched back-to-back goals at 8:29 and 15:22, respectively, with shots right in front to make it a 3-0 game after the opening 20 minutes.

Rock scored on a rebound 3:38 into the second period to put the Golden Eagles ahead 4-0 before Alonzi fired a wrist shot through traffic and past Moore on the power play at 15:05 to put the Red Dragons on the scoreboard. Williams completed the scoring just over two minutes later as Brockport earned the 5-1 win after a scoreless third period.
