Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the SUNY Cortland Athletics Department is once again this year honoring its student-athletes as part of an online "Awards Week" series of releases May 10-14 instead of conducting the C-Club Athletics Awards Ceremony.
The award winners announced on Thursday, May 13 were:

The Peter J. Cahill '66 Award is named for Cortland's former swimming and diving and women's tennis head coach and is presented to either a current student-athlete or non-athlete student for involvement in activities outside of sports and/or contributions to the Athletics Department. A native of Rhinebeck, N.Y., Brandt has assisted the Cortland Athletic Department for three years. A sport management major, he began as an event staffer, then became an event manager and was a department intern. Brandt has been an integral contributor to Cortland Athletics, willing to assist with any task and take on any role. He also assisted with the campus COVID-19 testing operation during the school year.

The Fraser Stokes Award is given for dedication and service to Cortland Athletics. O'Malley has played a vital role in Cortland Athletics' response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Cortland's head athletic trainer since 2018, O'Malley and his staff were integral to Cortland Athletics meeting all of the required protocols, including intensive testing, required for the Red Dragons' spring teams to compete and the other programs to conduct practices and team activities.

The Whitney T. Corey '43 Award is presented to the senior female student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade point average. Trevisani is a criminology major with a 4.09 GPA entering the spring semester. Corey coached men's basketball at Cortland in the 1950s and early 1960s and also served as the school's vice president for academic affairs. The main gymnasium in Cortland's Park Center bears his name.

The Robert J. Weber Award is given to the senior male student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade point average. VanBeveren is an exercise major with a 3.97 GPA entering the spring semester. Weber was Cortland's director of athletics for 12 years and the Chairman of the Men's Physical Education department for 15 years. He worked at Cortland from 1952-85.

The Judson and Elise Taylor Team GPA Awards are named after the former SUNY Cortland president and his wife and are presented to the men's and women's athletic teams with the highest cumulative grade point averages. The men's ice hockey team, with a cumulative GPA of 3.32, won the men's award for the fourth straight year. The women's tennis team, with a 3.56 cumulative GPA, won the women's award for second time in the last three years and the third time overall.

 Cortland Athletics also recognized student-athletes who were selected to the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society. The organization recognizes college student-athletes who are juniors or seniors with at least a 3.7 cumulative GPA on a 4.3 scale. Cortland's 2020-21 honorees are:
