Emily Lantry won the 200-yard freestyle, was second in the 200-yard backstroke, and led off the winning 200-yard freestyle relay
NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – Cortland won four individual events – two by
Marissa Kordal (Eden) and one each by
Emily Lantry (Massena/St. Lawrence) and
Kailyn Anselment (Queensbury/Glens Falls) – in a 138-120 women's swimming dual meet loss at New Paltz.
Kordal won the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:55.49) and the 200-yard butterfly (2:23.96). Lantry won the 200-yard freestyle (2:04.42), finished second in the 200-yard backstroke (2:19.04), and led off Cortland's winning 200-yard freestyle relay team (1:45.61) that also featured
Sophia Boccio (Garden City),
Nicole Murphy (Saratoga Springs) and
Kaila O'Hara (East Islip).
Anselment won the 500-yard freestyle (5:38.25) and also placed second in both the 1,000-yard freestyle (12:00.79) and the 200-yard freestyle (2:05.63).
Madi Monaghan (Chili/Gates-Chili) registered runner-up finishes in three events – the 100-yard backstroke (1:04.63), the 100-yard freestyle (56.57) and the 400-yard individual medley (5:01.82).
Also for the Red Dragons,
Caitlin Elsasser (Merrick/Sanford H. Calhoun) was second in both the 200-yard butterfly (2:25.03) and 100-yard butterfly (1:05.82), Murphy placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:15.45), and
Mackenzie Dickman (Montgomery/Valley Central) was second in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:43.10).
There was no diving competition at the meet since New Paltz's facility doesn't include diving boards.
Cortland will travel to face Division II Le Moyne College in Syracuse on Saturday.
