Red Dragon Men Earn 163-98 Dual Win at Oswego

OSWEGO, N.Y. – Cortland won 10 individual events and a relay on its way to a 163-98 dual-meet victory at Oswego Wednesday in men's swimming and diving action.
 
Sean Zupko (Montgomery/Valley Central) won both the 50-yard backstroke (27.05) and 100-yard backstroke (55.67) and Kevin Kohlhoff (West Islip) won 1-meter diving (272.30 points) and 3-meter diving (298.45 points). His 3-meter score is his first of two times needed to meet the NCAA regional standard.
 
Mason Rowlands (Campbell Hall/Washingtonville) won the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:43.05) and finished second as an exhibition entry in the 200-yard IM (2:12.12). Jack-Henry Whalen (Yorktown Heights/Yorktown) was victorious in the 200-yard freestyle (1:52.29) and Makiah Poli (Cortland/Home schooled) won the 100-yard butterfly (55.96).
 
Trent deHaan (Greene/Greene Central) was the winner in the 100-yard freestyle (51.07), Hunter Bernhardt (Groton) won the 500-yard freestyle (4:49.02), and Daniel Swift (Millerton/Webutuck) captured the 50-yard butterfly (24.90). Ethan Domanico (New Windsor/Newburgh Free Academy) won the 200-yard IM as an exhibition entry (2:09.66) and was second in the 50-yard backstroke (27.32). The 200-yard medley relay team of Poli, Ryan Lerner (Washingtonville), Domanico and Jacob Falvey (Brockport) won in 1:41.32.
 
Mason Arnberg (Dix Hills/Half Hollow Hills East) posted second-place finishes in both the 50-yard freestyle (23.15) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:02.53). Jack Pagel (Cortlandt Manor/Walter Panas) was second in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:13.70) and Hunter Sugrue-Neuendorf (Valley Cottage/Nyack) was second in the 50-yard breaststroke (28.99).
 
Cortland's other runners-up included Sam Zani (Irondequoit) in the 100-yard butterfly (57.09) and Nick Dambra (Brockport) in the 100-yard backstroke (58.43). Lance Meeson (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa), as an exhibition entry, was second in both 1-meter diving (252.45 points) and 3-meter diving (267.76 points). Cortland was also second as an exhibition entry in the 200-yard freestyle relay as Falvey, Arnberg, Swift and Aiden Poli (Cortland/Home schooled) finished in 1:32.98.
 
Cortland will host New Paltz and Buffalo State in a tri-meet on Friday at 4 p.m. Buffalo State was originally scheduled to compete at Cortland on Nov. 19 but was rescheduled due to weather. Cortland will also host Division II Le Moyne in a dual meet Saturday at 11 a.m.
