Lance Meeson earned a trip to the NCAA Diving Regionals for the second straight year
CORTLAND, N.Y. – Five Red Dragons posted two individual victories each and
Lance Meeson (Clifton Park/Shenedehowa) qualified for NCAA diving regionals as the Cortland men's swimming and diving team defeated Division II Le Moyne College, 181-112, in a home dual meet on Saturday.
Meeson hit NCAA standards with both his winning score of 448.80 points on 3-meter diving and his third-place score of 444.53 points on the 1-meter board. The 3-meter score is his second time in as many days with an NCAA score on that board, earning him a spot into regionals for the second straight year.
Kevin Kohlhoff (West Islip), who already punched his NCAA regional ticket Friday, won the 1-meter board versus the Dolphins with an NCAA score of 492.83 points and was second on the 3-meter board with 419.78 points.
Sean Zupko (Montgomery/Valley Central) won both the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:19.12) and 200-yard backstroke (2:01.93), while
Hunter Bernhardt (Groton) captured the 200-yard freestyle (1:46.23) and 500-yard freestyle (4:47.45).
Makiah Poli (Cortland/Hme schooled) took top honors in the 100-yard backstroke (55.05) and 200-yard IM (2:04.00) and
Mason Arnberg (Dix Hills/Half Hollow Hills East) won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.93) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:19.95).
Ethan Domanico (New Windsor/Newburgh Free Academy) won the 200-yard butterfly (2:04.17) and was the top finisher as an exhibition entry in the 100-yard butterfly (53.65).
Cortland's other win on the day came from the 200-yard medley relay team of Poli, Arnberg, Domanico and
Sam Zani (Irondequoit) with their time of 1:38.40. The 400-yard freestyle relay of Bernhardt, Domanico,
Jack-Henry Whalen (Yorktown Heights/Yorktown) and
Mason Rowlands (Campbell Hall/Washingtonville) finished second in 3:20.58.
Dylan Monaco (Lynbrook) notched a pair of runner-up finishes with times of 2:04.18 in the 200-yard butterfly and 5:06.98 in the 500-yard freestyle.
Patrick Kivlehan (Highland Mills/Monroe-Woodbury) completed Cortland's sweep of the 500-yard free with his third-place time of 5:13.95.
Zani finished second in the 50-yard freestyle (22.83) and Whalen was second as an exhibition entry in the 100-yard butterfly (54.89).
Kellen Dickman (Montgomery/Valley Central) placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.67),
Jack Pagel (Cortlandt Manor/Walter Panas) was second in the 200-yard backstroke (2:08.00), and
Hunter Sugrue-Neuendorf (Valley Cottage/Nyack) finished second in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:20.77).
Cortland wraps up its home schedule next Saturday with a 1 p.m. meet versus Oneonta.
