Red Dragon Men Post Six Wins During Home Dual with Ithaca

CORTLAND, N.Y. – Six Red Dragons earned event victories, including an NCAA regional-qualifying diving performance by Kaz Kadota Browner (Jericho), during Cortland's 172-127 men's swimming and diving dual-meet setback to visiting Ithaca College. 
 
Kadota-Browner won the 1-meter diving event with a score of 281.65 points, marking his second time reaching the NCAA qualifying standard on that board and earning him a spot in March's NCAA regionals. Kevin Kohlhoff (West Islip) won 3-meter diving with a score of 277.25 points. Lance Meeson (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) finished second on both boards (266.65 points on 1-meter, 275.55 points on 3-meter). 
 
Kellen Dickman (Montgomery/Valley Central) won the 100-yard butterfly (53.37) and was second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:02.71). Makiah Poli (Cortland/Home schooled) captured the 100-yard backstroke (55.49) and placed second in both the 200-yard breaststroke (2:18.07) and 200-yard individual medley (2:02.38). 
 
Hunter Bernhardt (Groton) was victorious in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:06.76) and placed second in the 500-yard freestyle (4:53.72). Sean Zupko (Montgomery/Valley Central) won the 200-yard backstroke (2:02.20). Mason Rowlands (Campbell Hall/Washingtonville) was the 200-yard freestyle runner-up (1:51.32) and Jack Clark (Rochester/Aquinas Institute) placed second in the 100-yard freestyle (50.09). 
 
In relay action, Poli, Hunter Sugrue-Neuendorf (Valley Cottage/Nyack), Dickman and Clark finished second in the 200-yard medley relay (1:39.38) and Sugrue-Neuendorf, Bernhardt, Sam Zani (Irondequoit) and Clark were second in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:17.63). 
 
Cortland will send divers to a meet at Colgate University on Nov. 11 and will compete in a dual meet at Merchant Marine Academy on Nov. 18.
