Cortland Men Earn Dual-Meet Victory at New Paltz

Michael Tomasino finished second in both the 200-yard butterfly and 200-yard IM
NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The Cortland men's swimming and diving team defeated host New Paltz, 149-113, in a dual meet. The Red Dragons won eight individual events along with a relay during the victory. 
 
Hunter Bernhardt (Groton) and Kellen Dickman (Montgomery/Valley Central) each won two events. Bernhardt was victorious in the 1,650-yard freestyle (17:24.32) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:58.82) and Dickman won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:02.13) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:15.95). 
 
Dylan Monaco (Lynbrook) took top honors in the 200-yard butterfly (2:04.36) and was second in the 100-yard butterfly (55.24). Jack Clark (Rochester/Aquinas Institute) won the 50-yard freestyle (22.40), Sean Zupko (Montgomery/Valley Central) won the 200-yard backstroke (2:02.72) and Jack Pagel (Cortlandt Manor/Walter Panas) was victorious in the 200-yard individual medley (2:10.76). The tandem of Dickman, Mason Rowlands (Campbell Hall/Washingtonville), Dylan Anselment (Glens Falls) and Sam Zani (Irondequoit), as an exhibition entry due to the team score, finished first in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:29.60). 
 
Michael Tomasino (Lake Grove/Sachem North) placed second in both the 200-yard butterfly (2:07.93) and 200-yard IM (2:11.59) and Makiah Poli (Cortland/Home schooled) was second in the 100-yard backstroke (55.70) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:17.79). Hunter Sugrue-Neuendorf (Valley Cottage/Nyack) was second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.81) and Peter Brelesky (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury) finished second in the 100-yard freestyle (51.20). Zani and Anselment finished second (22.60) and third (22.64), in the 50-yard freestyle to complete a top-three sweep in the event for the Red Dragons. 
 
There was no diving competition at the meet since New Paltz's facility doesn't include a diving area.
