CORTLAND, N.Y. - Cortland held visiting Fredonia to 12 percent shooting and 12 points in the first half and the Red Dragons defeated the Blue Devils, 80-47, in a SUNYAC women's basketball matchup. Cortland improved to 17-3 with its sixth straight win and leads the SUNYAC with a 12-1 record.

Cortland finished the game 14-of-26 (54 percent) from 3-point range.
Kayla Campbell (Franklin/Franklin Central) finished with 15 points, six rebounds, three steals and two assists. She made 2-of-3 treys.
Jackie Funk (Penfield) connected on 3-of-6 3-pointers and ended with 11 points, five rebounds and three blocks.
Sam Dembinsky (Wallkill) scored nine points, hitting 3-of-5 shots with one 3-pointer, and grabbed five rebounds. Six of her points came during a key stretch in the second quarter to help Cortland pull away.

Kaeli McAnally (Islip) made 2-of-3 from the arc and ended with eight points, five assists and five rebounds,
Bella Zingoni (Kings Park/Long Island Lutheran) also hit 2-of-3 threes and finished with six points, six rebounds and five assists, and
Joleen Lusk (Cherry Valley/Cherry Valley-Springfield) recorded five points, five rebounds and three blocks.

Alex Dembinsky (Wallkill) blocked two shots as Cortland finished the game with 10 blocks.
Adriana Fontana (Endicott/Union-Endicott) and
Lily Woodis (Dewittville/Chautauqua Lake) each scored six points.

Payton Gilbert led Fredonia (6-12, 3-9 SUNYAC) with 11 points and nine rebounds and Alexys Neckers scored nine points.

Cortland led 13-7 after one quarter and 13-9 with eight minutes left in the second period. The Red Dragons scored the next 11 points, starting with a (Sam) Dembinsky layup and a Zingoni 3-pointer, followed by two Dembinsky free throws and a layup at the 4:07 mark. Campbell finished the run with two foul shots with 3:02 left. Cortland led 30-12 at halftime and 54-27 after three quarters.

Cortland shot 43 percent overall from the field and 88 percent (14-of-16) from the foul line. Fredonia recovered from its 3-of-26 shooting in the first half to hit 12-of-33 shots (36 percent) in the second half to finish at 25 percent.
