Aneborn's Two Goals Lift Red Dragons to 3-1 Win Over Oswego

CORTLAND, NY – Fanny Aneborn (Linkoping, Sweden/Lulea HF Sweden) scored a pair of goals, including the game-winning goal with 3:29 left in the third period, to lift the Cortland women's hockey team to a 3-1 home victory over Oswego in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action on Saturday afternoon in Alumni Arena.

Cortland improves to 12-5-3 (6-2-2 SUNYAC) on the year, and the Red Dragons are unbeaten in their 10 games of the 2026 calendar year with an 8-0-2 in those contests. Oswego drops to 11-9-1 (5-4-1 SUNYAC) with the defeat.

Aneborn's two goals were her sixth and seventh goals of the season, while Carlen Bertrand (Timmins, ON/MCLA) tallied Cortland's third goal. Eline Gillodes (La Saulce, France/Kents Hill) stopped 21-of-22 shots in goal.

Katie Mahoney (Toronto, ON/Toronto Leaside Junior) had two assists, and Katie Diem (Fairport/Niagara University) and Ainsley Delacourt (Stoney Creek, ON/Brampton Canadettes U22AA) provided an assist apiece for the Red Dragons.

Natalie Loncz scored the lone goal for the Lakers, with Brittany Iversen and Julia Power recording the assists. Mia Devivo made 29 saves in goal for Oswego.

Cortland controlled the opening minutes of the first period, including recording the first eight shots on goal of the game. The Red Dragon defense also prevented Oswego from recording a shot on goal until just over six minutes remained in the period.

The Red Dragons' best early chance came on a 2-on-1 break with eight minutes left in the period, but Devivo came up with a strong pad save to deny Genevieve Sbrocca (Fort Worth, TX/The Hill School Prep) after a cross-ice feed from Emma McLean (Burlington, MA/SUNY Plattsburgh).

Cortland struck for the opening goal of the game with just 17 seconds left in the period. Delacourt fired a shot from the left point that was stopped in front by Devivo, but Mahoney batted the rebound out to the right side of the net, where Aneborn wristed home a shot into the goal to give the Red Dragons the 1-0 lead at the intermission.

Five minutes into the second period, Gillodes made her best save of the game to deny Oswego's Loncz with a stick save on a shot from the right faceoff circle on an odd-man rush. Just a minute later, an Oswego shot struck off the post after a scrum in front of the Cortland goal.

Cortland had the only power-play opportunity of the contest midway through the second period after a roughing penalty, but the Red Dragons were unable to double their advantage and held the slim one-goal lead into the second intermission.

Oswego knotted the score early in the third period. An initial shot from the left faceoff circle by Power was stopped by Gillodes. The freshman netminder couldn't locate the loose puck in the goal crease, and Loncz was able to chip the rebound into the back of the net a few seconds later.

Aneborn restored Cortland's lead in the final four minutes with her second goal of the game. After a dump in from the neutral zone, Diem collected the puck along the right boards and slid a pass to Mahoney below the goal line. Mahoney centered a pass to the front of the net to Aneborn, who quickly wristed her shot into the left corner of the net.

With just over a minute remaining, Oswego pulled Devivo for an extra attacker in search of an equalizing goal. The Lakers dumped the puck into the Cortland defensive zone, where Bertrand backtracked to collect the puck, skated towards the boards, and fired a length-of-the-ice shot into the empty net to secure the 3-1 win with 1:02 on the clock.
