Hello Red Dragons!
I hope you are doing well in these uncertain times!
I wish I could be giving you updates about our first two home contests, along with other outdoor track and field invitationals we had been participating in…especially as this past weekend was normally the Cortland Classic! While that isn't the case for this year, I do have some good news to share!
To start, as I have been doing individual phone calls with every member of the team, it has been heartwarming to see how the team has been responding to the new challenges of stay at home, social distancing, and distance learning. While it isn't easy on any of us, this group of current students have been remarkably resilient! As an alumnus and a current employee, it is with great pride that I can report that the faculty have been doing an excellent job in working with our students to adapt their courses. Things have certainly been different for our students, but they are definitely learning, they are having good interactions with their professors, and they are feeling supported by the efforts of the college!
The sports information department has been focusing on seniors across the spring sports that had their seasons cut short, which has been a great thing to see. So far, you can see features on team members:
•
Jesse Correale
•
Chad Dunham
•
Liam Joyce
•
Connor Lewis
•
Ryan Konotopskyj
•
Courtney Maurin
•
Kaylee Uhl
The team Instagram page (
SUNY Cortland XC/TF Instagram) has also been doing a 'Senior Send-Off' that is also being shared on Twitter (
SUNY Cortland XC/TF Twitter) and Facebook (
SUNY Cortland XC/TF Facebook Page).
Upcoming Events:
• The
Annual Day of Giving (formerly the 3-2-1 Challenge) has been a huge source of support the past few years – we hope you are able to support us again this year! We have recently been notified that this year we will be running the 'Challenge Day' on
Wednesday, June 17th, 2020. I hope that you are able to join us this year!
As always, we thank you for your support and interest! Stay Safe and Sane!
