Anthony Tesori spent 21 years at Cortland in various teaching and administrative capacities before leaving in 1967 for Fredonia College. While at Cortland, he served as director of student teaching for physical education, a coach of basketball, tennis and golf. He was an assistant coach in football and taught graduate courses in administration, supervision, curriculum development, and educational research methods. Tesori was awarded the rank of professor in 1952.
As coordinator of field services in 1957-1961, Tesori helped to revise and enrich Cortland’s curriculum and assisted in increasing communication with high school guidance personnel. In 1961, Tesori became director of admissions and records until 1967.
Tesori then spent three years at Fredonia College as chairman for health, physical education and athletics. From 1970-1980, he served as professor and director of the Branch Campus of University of Central Florida, Cocoa, Fla. He played a significant role in planning, developing and implementing an advanced version of the “two plus two” concept between the University of Central Florida and Brevard Community College.
In addition to his professional service, Tesori has made contributions at local, state, and national levels. He served as administrative director for NASA Space Education Advisory Council and sat on many local and state committees and boards.
The Class of ’49 unanimously moved to nominate Dr. Anthony Tesori for Distinguished Alumnus Award because “he is held in such high regard and was beloved by us all for so many years.” Tesori was awarded the Distinguished Alumnus Award in 1985.
