Sports
At SUNY Cortland, participated on five athletic teams, baseball, wrestling, indoor track and field, outdoor track and field and soccer. Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field honors: Red Letter Award, silver medal in javelin throw and 440 yd dash, and gold medal (school record) in mile relay at the New York State Track and Field Championships, college record holder in 220 and 440 yd. dashes and mile relay, silver medals in the mile relay at Penn Relays and Queens Iona Relays, and individual and team championship at Union Relays (equivalent to indoor state championship). Soccer honors: team captain, All SUNY, All New York State and 1st Team All American. Coached the UI Intercollegiate Soccer Club, 1963-1966.Â

Employment history
Assistant/Associate Professor and varsity soccer coach, California State University, Fullerton, 1967-1973. Qualified for NCAA post season competition four times, tying for 5th in the country the last three years. Selected as Southern California Intercollegiate Soccer Association Coach of the year, 1970. Selected to coach the Southwest Collegiate All Stars in the final player selections for the 1972 Olympic Games.Â

Authored, co-authored or edited six published books and eight manuals on cardiac rehabilitation, physical fitness, and health promotion in teenagers, more than 100 publications in professional journals and books, more than 120 presentations nationally and internationally, and manuscript reviewer for several professional journals.

Personal
Paul and his wife, Judith L. Rice, are retired in Savannah, GA. They have four children: Stephen, Marjorie, Elizabeth and Patrick. In retirement Paul has remained active in reviewing manuscripts for professional journals and as a consultant for school and community preventive health programs.
