Betty Burfeindt played four varsity sports - basketball, volleyball, softball and field hockey - while a student at Cortland. She also played intramural golf, and in both 1965 and 1966 she represented Cortland in the National Intercollegiate Golf Tournament. She qualified for the tournament's championship flight in 1966.
Since 1969, she has been a touring golf professional on the Ladies Golf Association circuit. She twice has been voted Golf Magazine's "Driver of the Year" and in 1972 was named Golf Magazine's "Most Improved Professional Golfer." She posted two tournament victories and ranked fourth in money won on the tour in 1972. She also ranked seventh in scoring and fourth in money won in 1973, and is 23rd all-time in money won.
A native of Canaan, N.Y., she resides in the winter in Palm Springs, Calif.

UPDATE- March, 2015: Burfeindt has won 5 Tournaments including A Masor and the 1976 LPGA Championship. She has played on tour for 17 years and was the 1st Female to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. In 1984, she was appointed as the Head Teaching Professional at Springs C.C. in Rancho Mirage, CA. In 1988, she began a business as a photographer for Pet-Tography and Framing.
