A three-year letterman and Red Letter Award winner in both baseball and football at Cortland, Page finished second nationally as a football punter and batted over .300 in his Cortland baseball career. He was president of Beta Phi Epsilon fraternity and a Dean's List student. He was Section Five Football Coach of the Year in 1986 for leading the team to the sectional title. He also coached basketball, wrestling, baseball, skiing, softball and lacrosee. He later became acting chair of the English Department, assistant principal, director of pupil services and, in August 1999, the assistant superintendent for school operations. The Henrietta Area Council voted him its 1994 Educator of the Year. He developed the district's adapted physical education program for handicapped students K-12.

He and his wife, Sharon, have three children: Michael, Shelby and Shana.
