While at Cortland, Fricano played varsity baseball, soccer and freshman basketball before his career was interrupted by military service in 1942. He played professional baseball from 1947 to 1961, including three years with the Philadelphia Athletics as a pitcher.

During the off seasons from 1952 to 1961, he was a substitute teacher of physical education in the Buffalo public schools. From 1961 to 1962 he taught general science at Lake Shore Central High School in Angola.

UPDATE: Fricano passed away on May 18, 1976 at age 52.
