The title of regional supervisor of the Nassau County Department of Recreation and Parks belongs to Herman Druckman of Long Beach, N.Y. He has a long history as a professional in the ranks of recreation and parks, particularly in Nassau County. He is a past president of the Nassau Recreation, Park and Conservation Association and has held many other offices in the organization. He won the Association's "Professional of the Year Award" in 1976. He also has been an officer and frequent committeeman with the New York State Recreation and Parks Society and has served the National Recreation and Parks Association as well. He has been an adjunct assistant professor in recreation studies at SUNY Farmingdale and served as president of the Board of Trustees for the Gregory Museum in Hicksville.

His biggest thrill in college was earning All-American status as a member of the Cortland soccer team in 1957, his senior year. He was an All-New York State selection for two years, playing for Coach "Prof" Holloway, who regarded him as an "outstanding soccer player." A Brooklyn native, Druckman also starred with the soccer team in LaFayette High School in New York City and led his team to the City championshp as a senior. While at Cortland, Druckman recalls he particularly enjoyed playing against Syracuse University. In four games against the Orangemen, Cortland won all four as Druckman scored 11 goals.

UPDATE: Druckman passed away in April 2017.
